Niftic?
“Niftic” is a slang term from 1930s Americana. It means “stylish,” according to Tom Dalzell’s Flappers 2 Rappers (Merriam-Webster, 1996). It’s a word that I’ve never heard anybody use, ever. And I like it.
The Website
The Short
Niftic.com is the Web territory of Trent Clifton (that’s me), and the site exists mainly for my own use and amusement. If you visit this site and are not amused, I will not be surprised, nor will I apologize. I am fascinated by the technology behind the Internet, and in the past this site has given me an opportunity to learn a good deal about how things work through “hands-on” experience.
The Long and Boring
In a way, this site began with GeoCities in around 1997, and it began simply because I loved the idea of building a Web site, and I loved the technology behind it. The site started as a personal “homepage” kinda thing, and then became the beginnings of an old-time radio fan site. Never quite making it into a full-blown OTR fan site, it became mostly an OTR download site, with a few little extras — which most people never paid any attention to. After securing my own domain name in 1999, the OTR site became known as Niftic Old Time Radio and Such, which was to be but a small section or sub-site to something bigger. But I never had any great ideas. By 2005, with updates to the OTR site being few and far between (as my life had become busy), I had seen several hasty and tactless messages regarding my (lack of) updates. Not long after, the OTR site disappeared completely. Then it reappeared for 2009 in a much diluted form, incorporated into the blog-style thing that Niftic.com is today.
The Man Himself
Bio
Trent Clifton was born. He was then raised. He became a man at the age of five. By 17 he had become an old man. He now resides in Southern Oregon, and works for a northwestern grocery superstore chain. Trent’s goals are to study acting & music, go to college for a bit, learn to speak and write at least two East Asian languages, earn a living doing something he loves, and marry the insanely adorable and talented actress Anna Paquin (not to be confused with celebrity pop-star Lindsay Lohan, pictured here with Himself).
