How has a person’s kindness made a difference in your work?
When I made the transition from teaching, I was overwhelmed with self-doubt. It was my sisters who gently nudged me out of my own way, urging me to trust in my abilities. Seeing ourselves clearly, with all our strengths and flaws, is a challenge. Their encouragement gave me the confidence I needed to produce great work and take pride in it.
What’s the part of your morning routine you’ll never skip?
Every morning, I read for at least half an hour, sometimes a full hour if time allows. I find doing something solely for myself helps me tackle the workday with a clear mind. (A great book is also great inspiration for copy.) On the especially busy days, it’s nice knowing I gifted myself a little window to enjoy something unrelated to work.
What’s a piece of business advice that’s stuck with you over the years?
It’s okay to not have all the answers all the time. We all have moments of uncertainty. People will show you grace if you’re willing to put in the work to gain the knowledge that you need.
What’s your favorite tool for self-education?
YouTube. It’s free, and there are so many creators that offer top-of-the-line instructional videos that are extremely helpful. Plus, the comment section often has some hidden gems from fellow viewers that are also valuable.
